Curls After using Ouidad’s Curl Co-Wash and
Last week I had the pleasure of attending Ouidad’s Private NYC Meetup Hosted by the dope Myleik, Creator and CEO of Curlbox. The event was dope, very ‘high end-fifth ave’ with some around the way ish sprinkled in. The salon and it’s employees were extremely welcoming and helpful and while I love the feel, the culture and the tradition of the neighborhood hair salon it was nice to sip champagne while getting a scalp massage instead of being sold some Avon cosmetics and dads (Can’t knock the hustle tho!) But in all honestly, we should be able to have both. Below are some pictures…

Curls after using Ouidad Curl Co Wash and Kinky Curly Knot Today
As you probably know, Shanti and I, DREAD, GET ANXIETY OVER and HATE trying new products. We found our regimen and straying from it stresses us out but in an attempt to give yall more reviews we’ve vowed to bite the bullet and shut the hell up about it. And this time around, I wasn’t mad.
 A  Ouidad Curl Co-Wash

This is a great product especially for  product junkies and fine haired curly girls looking for a light cleanser. I recommend that every shampoo be diluted but this one is the perfect blend of cleansing and conditioning properties so there is really no need. It is sulfate free and “is a concentrated blend of conditioners & oils plus a dose of a gentle, naturally-derived coconut cleanser for a truly unique experience that never dries or strips hair”.  After using it my hair was shiny, bouncy and my curls were very defined even after I picked them out. It comes in an ease to use pump bottle and is 16 ounces for 30 dollars which definitely more expensive than my diluting recipes but also more convenient and the bottle should last a long time. The only minor downside is that it doesn’t have as much slip as I would have liked so if your hair is thicker and more coarse than mine I would recommend (as the product does) washing your hair in sections.

A-  Mongongo Oil- Multi Use Hair Treatment

I run from anything that says oil on it but this treatment doesn’t way my hair down. Now only time will tell if the treatment has long lasting affects on my locks but the immediate ones were good. Ouidad writes, “This super-concentrated, multi-tasking serum is infused with Mongongo Oil, known as “hair food” in Zambia for its high vitamin E content and superb regenerating and antioxidant properties. With American Palm Seed Oil and Broccoli Seed Oil, the formula restructures hair as it deeply repairs damage to restore a healthy appearance to even the dullest locks. By forming a protective film over the hair fibers, hair is instantly more manageable and has a natural, healthy-looking luster. It coats hair to protect against UV rays and environmental aggressors to help defend against damage. Further, it protects hair from aggressive heat styling and helps speed up drying time”.

The treatment is in a spray bottle so when applied, it mists your hair making it much easier to distribute evenly and effectively. I used about 4-5 sprays and it did not weigh my hair down at all but did give it a nice shine. So, I’ll definitely use it on those days wear my hair looks thirsty and dry. Plus it SMELLS LIKE HEAVEN ON EARTH! I sprayed some on my body. SMH.  The only downside to it is that it’s expensive. A 2 ounce bottle is $36.00 and a 4 ounce bottle is $58.00. Ugh. But it is highly concentrated so we will see how long it lasts.

What product junkie out there is gonna cop some new ish?

  1. Thank you sooo much! I’ve been waiting on this review. My hair is very similar to Shanti’s hair texture, could she tell me what she thinks of it? I’m deciding between this co-wash and the Carol’s Daughter one

  3. My girlfriend and I both have Ouidad’s Curl Co-Wash on our shopping list and super excited to try it out. Glad to hear that it worked for you! Just need to use the tons of products that we currently have : ) btw, we are both Kinky Curly Knot Today fanatics. We actually have our own bottles, because I hate running out of it and she goes through it much quicker then I do!
