Miu Miu Makes Magic with Black Female Director Ava DuVernay “The Door”

This video brought tears to my eyes. The cinematic imagery, the colors, the grace, the fashion, the array of flawless black beauty, the story – everything moved me. It filled me with pride. Miu Miu has been making short fashion films in collaboration with an array of female directors. This is the fifth film installment which was directed by Ava DuVernay (the first African American female director to win Best Director at Sundance) and starred by an all African American cast of women: Gabrielle Union, Alfre Woodard, Adepero Oduye, Goapele and Emayatzy Corinealdi.

It’s flawless.

  1. Thank you so much for introducing me to this Shanti! And you are so right, it’s beautiful & phenomenal. It’s also something I needed to see, about the message it conveys. So again, thank you.

  2. Powerful. Shanti, I just want to say I love your posts! So thought provoking. Not only are you my birthday and hair twin, sometimes I feel like you’re my mental twin! I’m only 4 years younger than you but I look up to you guys! Thanks for being more than just a hair blog. Love and light.
